Description | The Shas party has launched a campaign for English-speakers for the first time in its 22-year history in an attempt to capture the small but crucial Anglo-Sephardi vote.
Headed by a volunteer corps of former Americans, the campaign is also planning to reach religious Ashkenazim who are disillusioned with the NRP, but are nevertheless interested in voting for a party with a strong educational platform.
"Just like Kadima goes to the Russians, we're trying to persuade Shas MKs to reach out to Ashkenazim and Anglo-Saxons," said Elhanan Kowalsky, a Shas volunteer from Petah Tikva. |
