An excerpt...
"Canada's opposition Conservative Party has narrowly pulled ahead of the country's ruling but embattled Liberal Party as both parties vie for votes ahead of the January 23 election, according to a new poll.
The Conservative Party led by Stephen Harper garnered an approval rating of 33 percent, compared with a 32 percent approval rating for the ruling Liberal Party led by
Prime Minister Paul Martin, according to the Ipsos Reid poll for the National Post newspaper.
Although the Conservative's lead is slender, if translated into actual votes it would enable the party to form a minority government.
The poll puts Conservatives ahead of the Liberals for the first time since campaigning kicked off in November.
"If you look at these numbers today, the Conservatives would have a minority," said Darrell Bricker, Ipsos Reid's president." |
