Description | Rep. Dan Tripp, R-Mauldin, said Tuesday he will not seek a seventh District 28 term in the state House of Representatives in 2006.
Eric Beddingfield, the Greenville County Council member from that district, immediately announced his plans to run. Beddingfield, a Republican, is a first-term Council member.
"I will run," Beddingfield said after Tripp's late-morning announcement.
District 28 encompasses most of southwestern Greenville County west of Interstate 385 from Mauldin and Piedmont south to the Laurens and Anderson county lines. The district is overwhelmingly Republican, and Democrats challenged Tripp in only two of his six elections. |
