DescriptionGov.-elect Jon Corzine has yet to announce whom he will appoint to fill out his unexpired U.S. Senate term, but three Democratic congressmen said yesterday they are prepared to run for the seat next year even if Corzine does not appoint them.

The three are busy lining up support for their campaigns and introducing themselves as candidates to voters.

Rep. Frank Pallone, D-6th Dist., has scheduled a news conference for Monday at the Statehouse to talk about how the Republican budget cuts will hurt New Jersey.

Rep. Robert Andrews, D-1st Dist., was to give a major policy speech on issues for the 2006 Senate race at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison today.

And Rep. Robert Menendez, D-13th Dist., was endorsed yesterday for the Senate seat by Rep. Steven Rothman, D-9th Dist.
