Description | RUSTON - Retiring 2nd Circuit Court of Appeal Judge Robert Kostelka hopes to trade his seat on the bench for a seat in the Louisiana Senate chamber this fall.
Kostelka, R-Monroe - set to retire July 15 from his seat on the State Court of Appeals - hopes to unseat Sen. Bill Jones, D-Ruston.
"I want to make sure I get all of my court work cleared up before I leave," Kostelka said. "I don't want to leave the courts in a lurch."
Kostelka said the decision to enter the District 35 Senate race came after local small business owners approached him.
"This is not something I dreamed up," Kostelka said. "Several small business owners came to me and said they were not happy with the way Bill (Sen. Jones) had voted on economic development issues." |
