Description | MONTGOMERY -- Former state legislator Perry Hooper Jr., a Montgomery Republican, said Wednesday that he is running for the Alabama Public Service Commission next year.
"You need someone there who's going to have a strong voice for consumers," said Hooper, 50, who served in the House of Representatives from 1983 to 2002.
He said he will seek Place 2, currently held by George C. Wallace Jr., a Republican who is running for lieutenant governor. The Public Service Commission meets monthly to regulate utilities and some transportation services in the state.
