| Description | Restaurant owner Mike Whalen is seeking the Republican nomination for Congress in the first District seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Jim Nussle.
Whalen owns Heart of America Restaurants and Inns and owns facilities in six states. He opened his first restaurant -- the Iowa Machine Shed -- in 1978. He said he wants to be an advocate for Iowa's farms and small towns. |
