Description(Angus Reid Global Scan) – Many adults in Israel are against the possibility of a new political role for Moshe Katzav, according to a poll by Teleseker published in Maariv. 71 per cent of respondents would not like to see their current president as a candidate for prime minister.

The Israeli Parliament elected Katzav to a five-year term as president in August 2000. Earlier this month, published reports speculated that Katzav could conceivably lead the Likud party into a general election after his tenure expires. The next parliamentary ballot is tentatively scheduled for January 2007.
