Description | BATON ROUGE, La. -- Secretary of State Fox McKeithen is breathing better on his own, but spokeswoman Jennifer Marusak said doctors still haven't determined if the paralysis resulting from a fall at his home will be permanent.
McKeithen, the state's top elections official, was injured more than a week ago.
His office said the secretary of state should be released from the hospital this week and will begin a physical rehabilitation program.
