DescriptionA prestige license plate to benefit a gay and lesbian support group was rejected by a House panel Monday.

Citing a proliferation of specialty tags lawmakers have approved recently, the House Committee on Transportation, Highways and Public Works voted 11-2 to kill House Bill 1920 by Rep. Melinda Schwegmann, D-New Orleans. The bill would have created a "PFLAG" plate for Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays.

The bill is dead for the session unless Schwegmann can hook it on one of the dozens of license tags still alive in the House or Senate.
