Description | The schedule for House Minority Leader Matt Entenza was hectic one day last month, one meeting crowding another. He started in the morning with business leaders and advocates for early childhood programs, lunched with six of his new DFL House caucus members, then heard all afternoon from a steady stream of seekers, including leaders of the state's Somali community.
Nearly every day since Nov. 2 has been just as busy for Entenza, DFL-St. Paul. "People who haven't talked to us in years, lobbyists and interest groups, have decided that now we are friends," he said.
The tall, lanky 43-year-old is the hottest political property in the state, having risen from relative obscurity as the least powerful of the Legislature's four top leaders to virtual parity, on the strength of DFLers gaining 13 House seats on Election Day and cutting the Republican House majority to 68-66. |
