Description | WASHINGTON, D.C.--A group of Minnesota DFLers said Tuesday that a representative of Rep. Mark Kennedy told them that the Minnesota Republican voted for a controversial party rule change to help embattled Majority Leader Tom DeLay of Texas.
A spokesman for Kennedy disputed the DFL account, saying his office has not changed its policy of not divulging his position on the unrecorded voice vote of GOP House members two weeks ago.
Ric Studer and Renee Ehlenz, both DFL volunteers in Kennedy's central Minnesota district, said they were among a half-dozen people who rallied outside the congressman's St. Cloud office and met with Kennedy field representative Chris Swedzinski. They, along with DFL Party worker Kendal Killian, said Swedzinski said Kennedy voted in favor of a GOP rule that would no longer require their House leader to automatically step down if he is indicted.
