Description | Joe Micon tore open his third bag of M&Ms Tuesday night, poured out the chocolate and shook his hand like a craps dealer.
That was after Micon, the Democratic candidate for the state representative race of District 26, learned only 350 votes separated him from his opponent, Republican candidate Connie Basham, at 11:45 p.m.
Micon received a phone call five minutes later informing him he was the declared winner.
In the closest race in the entire state of Indiana on Tuesday, Micon won 9,621 votes, 51 percent, to Basham’s 9,082, 49 percent. |
