RICHMOND, Va. -- A high-profile push to raise some taxes in Virginia hasn't hurt Gov. Mark R. Warner's job-performance rating, but the men expected to battle to replace him have a way to go to make themselves known to state voters, a poll shows.
The Mason-Dixon Polling & Research Inc. survey of 625 likely voters found that Warner's approval rating was rated as good or excellent by 58 percent of the respondents. The Democrat's approval rating was 57 percent in a December 2003 poll.
The results for Warner remained steady in spite of his successful campaign for increases in budget-boosting sales, cigarette and real estate transfer taxes. |
