Description | BOSTON - It took just three minutes, but Kendrick Meek's speech Monday night at the opening of the Democratic National Convention left no doubt the congressman from Miami is a rising Democratic player.
On a day when the party paid tribute to its elder statesmen, among them former Presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, party organizers tapped the freshman congressman for the first prime-time speech of the convention, positioning the 37-year-old as the face of a new generation of Democrats. |
