Johnson fanned the flames of partisanship at a rally for Democratic congressional candidate Stephanie Herseth, saying "how sweet it's going to be on June 2 when the Taliban wing of the Republican Party finds out what's happened in South Dakota."
The remark drew immediate criticism from Republicans and silence from Johnson - until Tuesday. Then, he apologized "if any Republicans were offended." |
