DescriptionNews 12 Networks, Newsday, and Hofstra University partnered to host the first New York State Gubernatorial debate, which included all seven candidates in the race. News 12 Long Island’s Doug Geed, Newsday’s Joye Brown, and News 12 Westchester/Hudson Valley’s Brian Conybeare were on board to moderate the event on Monday, October 18 at 7:00 p.m.

On television the debate was telecast live throughout New York State on cable-exclusive channels: News 12 Long Island, News 12 Westchester, News 12 Hudson Valley, News 12 The Bronx, News 12 Brooklyn, Time Warner Cable’s NY1, NY1 Noticias (with Spanish interpretation) and YNN. The debate was also made available to National Public Radio stations throughout New York State.

The debate was held in front of a live audience of invited guests, including community members, local leaders, and Hofstra students. All seven candidates in the race were invited to attend:

* Charles Barron (Freedom Party)
* Andrew Cuomo (Democratic/Independence/and Working Families Parties)
* Kristin Davis (Anti-Prohibition Party)
* Howie Hawkins (Green Party)
* Jimmy McMillan (Rent is 2 Damn High Party)
* Carl Paladino (Republican/Conservative/Taxpayers Parties)
* Warren Redlich (Libertarian Party)
