| Description |
The Prime Minister is the highest official of the state and presides over a cabinet of ministers. The Prime Minister is elected by the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo and is obliged by the Kosovo Constitution to select only members of the Kosovo Assembly as cabinet ministers. The office was formed by the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (June 10, 1999 to February 17, 2008) on March 4, 2002. The Prime Minister serves for four years, renewable.
