Monaco is a country in Western Europe, bordering the Mediterranean Sea on the southern coast of France, near the border with Italy. It is a constitutional monarchy ruled by the House of Grimaldi since 1419. The Minister of State, who is head of government, is appointed by the reigning Prince of Monaco from a list of three French national candidates presented by the French Government. The Cabinet is the Council of Government, which is under the control of the Prince of Monaco. Legislation is created by the unicameral National Council.
