Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi was overthrown by leaders of the Houthi Movement and forced into exile on January 22, 2015. The Presidential Palace and the government of the Republic of Yemen based in Sana'a was taken over by a Houthi Supreme Political Council.
President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi resigned on April 7, 2022 and delegated presidential responsibility to a Presidential Leadership Council headed by Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, who becomes its Chairman.
