Brindabella takes in all of the Tuggeranong district in southern Canberra as well as the rural areas and national parks beyond Canberra's edge in the southern ACT. In 2024 the division includes all of the suburb of Kambah which was previously split with Murrumbidgee.
The name Brindabella is derived from an Aboriginal word meaning 'two kangaroo rats'. For generations of Canberrans, Brindabella is the name of the mountain range which dominates the southern horizon of Canberra City.
