Description
The legislative power of the Livingston Parish Government is vested in a Council consisting of nine (9) members elected from single-member districts serving four (4) year terms. The Home Rule Charter was amended by the qualified electors in each district at Parish wide election held on November 6, 2018 that passed in favor of providing that both Council members and the Parish President adhere to term limiting. Their terms of office are limited to serving three (3) consecutive, four (4) year terms of office.
The Livingston Parish Council meets regularly on the second (2nd) and fourth (4th) Thursday of each month at six o’clock (6:00) p.m., provided that it does fall on a holiday. Meetings that fall on a holiday are rescheduled in an open meeting of the Council by resolution and are posted, distributed and published in the Official Journal. All meetings are held in accordance with the Open Meetings Law of the state of Louisiana. Meetings are domiciled at the Governmental Building, in the Livingston Parish Council Chambers located at 20355 Government Boulevard, Livingston, Louisiana 70754.
