Description |
One of the three regions that make up Belgium. Though the special law of August 8, 1980 created the three regions, political disagreements forced the disassembly of a specific provision relating to the Brussels Region. The Brussels-Capital Region was later established on January 12, 1989. It should not be confused with the City of Brussels (Ville de Bruxelles), which is only one of nineteen municipalities within the Brussels-Capital region, nor with the Bilingual Region of Brussels-Capital (Région bilingue de Bruxelles-Capitale), demarcated per Article 4 of the Belgian Constitution.
