A 41-seat, democratically elected assembly that leads the Southern Denmark region (Syddanmark), one of the five regions of Denmark. The political leader of the regional council and titular governor of the region has the title of Chairman of the Regional Council. Council members serve a term of four years. The Regional Council was established after elections held on November 15, 2005.
