Southeastern region of Norway formerly constituted as the Akershus, Buskerud and Østfold counties with the addition of three municipalities, Svelvik, Jevnaker and Lunner. County was created as a result of a decision to divide Norway into 11 counties (fylker or fylke), which was effected on January 1, 2020 [Link] Decision was reversed for this county and two others (Troms og Finnmark and Vestfold og Telemark) by vote of the Storting on June 14, 2022. Viken county will be split back to the counties Akershus, Buskerud and Østfold and cease to exist on January 1, 2024 [Link]
