Description |
100-seat upper house of the bicameral Parliament of Cameroon. Members serve for five years, 30 of whom are appointed by the President, while the remaining 70 are chosen by 10,636 electors from 360 local councils.
Senate was created by amendment to Cameroon's 1972 Constitution in 1996, with implementation delayed until decreed by the President on February 27, 2013.
The Senate's first election was set for April 14th, 2013.
