39-seat unicameral legislative body focusing exclusively on matters of relevance to the Sámi people of Norway. Parliament acts as a sister on an equal basis to the Norwegian Stortinget. Members serve for four years.
Parliament originally called the "Norwegian Sámi Council" in 1964 and was renamed the "Sámi Parliament" and opened by King Olav on October 9, 1989.
