Description |
The position of Prime Minister was abolished in 2010, its duties commandeered by the President, who is also called the Head of the Executive Branch. Direct elections were terminated by vote of Parliament on January 21, 2010, decreed by the President and subsequently entered into the Angolan constitution. The President is selected via a one-party system and governs only by decree.
On April 6, 2020, the President reduced the size of his 'Executive' (i.e., the ministers of his cabinet) from 28 to 21 departments [Link]
