The City of St. Paul Park was founded on the banks of the Mississippi in 1887. In 1974, St. Paul Park became a city by state statute.
Today, St. Paul Park is a friendly community of 5,441 welcoming residents. It is a community rich in parks and proud of its heritage and linkage to the Mississippi River.
Each year the city remembers its great heritage with a celebration in August, which brings in over 10,000 visitors to share in that pride.

St. Paul Park is along the eastern shore of the Mississippi River in Washington County, one of the fastest growing counties in the seven-county metro area. St. Paul Park is conveniently located by freeway to downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul, and only 15 minutes east of the Mall of America.
The Mayor and four City Council Members make up the St. Paul Park City Council, which meets on the first and third Mondays of each month at 7 p.m.
The mayor is elected to a four-year term, while council members serve staggered four-year terms. Local elections take place in November of odd numbered years.
