Description |
From 1925 to 1951, Boston's City Council was elected from 22 wards. This system was changed to 9 at-large city councillors.
Boston's wards were also used for the purposes of State House districts until one man one vote in the 1960s/70s.
The wards remain to this day in a more ceremonial role and are used as a subdivision to break down the results of Boston elections.
