Montenegro is a republic within the greater nation of Serbia and Montenegro. Also part of the greater nation are the provinces of Kosovo and Vojvodina. Serbia and Montenegro achieved its independence on April 27, 1992 as the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, the successor of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Serbia and Montenegro share a President, Prime Minister and Parliament seated in the capital city of Belgrade.
