102-seat upper house of the bicameral Parliament of Gabon. Members serve for six years.
Gabon's Constitutional Court on April 30, 2018 stripped all powers from the National Assembly, and passed on all of these powers temporarily to the Senate,
Elections for the Senate were held on December 13, 2014. The body convened on February 27, 2015.
The Government decreed that the number of members of the Senate will be reduced from 102 to 52, as of the next renewal expected in 2020.
