Info | Rep. O.L. Shelton, a Democrat, represents part of St. Louis City (District 57) in the Missouri House of Representatives.
Significant legislative accomplishments of Rep. Shelton include the prisoner reimbursement bill of 1990, the police pay bill of 1994, the fee office establishment in 1994 and the police pay and budget accountability bill of 1995. Additionally, Rep. Shelton has sponsored House Bill 1716 which prevented county offices in St. Louis from being eliminated in 1990 and another measure which created the Missouri Minority Business Advocacy Commission in 1994.
In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Shelton is a consultant to the Ville Area Neighborhood Housing Association and a member of the 4th Ward Democratic Organization where he serves as committeeman. Rep. Shelton also is a member of the Minority Advocacy Commission. Previously, he was an administrator of youth programs in St. Louis.
A 1965 graduate of Sumner High School, Rep. Shelton received a degree in political science from Lincoln University in 1970.
Born Feb. 6, 1946, in Greenwood, MS, Rep. Shelton currently resides in St. Louis with his wife Linda Kay. They have four children, Schron, Eric, Jaimal and Kiana.
