Rep. Russell Goward, a Democrat, represents part of St. Louis City (District 60) in the Missouri House of Representatives.
Rep. Goward is a former Assistant Majority Floor Leader.
His major legislative accomplishments include a role in drawing up the first congressional district where an Afro-American could run for Congress and win. In addition, Rep. Goward is a founding member of the Missouri Legislative Black Caucus. He has also introduced many other significant pieces of social service legislation relating to children, infants, and the elderly.
In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Goward is a real estate broker. He also is a member of the following organizations: the Pilgrim Congregational Church, the Masons and the 21st Ward Regular Democratic Organization.
A 1953 graduate of Sumner High School, Rep. Goward attended Hubbard Business College, Harris Teachers College and the University of Missouri-St. Louis. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
Born August 25, 1935, Rep. Goward resides in St. Louis City with his wife Dolores Goward. They have two children, Russell Goward, Jr., and Monika Goward.
