InfoThe Mayor of Lakewood for the past eight years, Madeline Cain was appointed to the RTA Board on march 6, 2001, by the Cuyahoga County Mayors and City Managers Association.

In 1996, she became Lakewood's first woman mayor. One year later, she co-founded the First Suburbs Consortium to bring development and leverage additional public money for older built-out communities that share common challenges and heritage. She is active in the Mayors Association of Ohio, the Ohio Public Works Commission, Lakewood Hospital, and the Cuyahoga County Planning Commission.

Mayor Cain previously served seven years in the Ohio House of Representatives, where she chaired the Policy and Research Committee for the Ohio House Democratic Caucus.

Her previous public service includes four years of working with Lakewood City Council, two years on the staff of the Cuyahoga County Commissioners, and teaching.

A graduate of Ursuline College, she has a masters degree in Public Administration from Cleveland State University. A graduate of Leadership Cleveland, she is active in many community groups, including the Advisory Board of the Malachi House, a home for terminally ill homeless persons.
