InfoGreg is currently serving as the Treasurer of Marion County

Greg Jordan was born on July 8, 1954 in Alamosa, Colorado and grew up in Colorado and Oregon. For over 26 years, Greg has resided in Marion County with his wife Rosie, son Michael and daughter Jennifer in Washington Township.

After attending Central Oregon Community College in Bend, Oregon, Greg moved to Indiana in 1976 for a college summer job with DeMolay, a youth organization. Greg continued his education with the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University and graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business (Marketing). Upon graduation, Greg joined the treasurer's office as a deputy in 1982 and won his first election to head the office in 1996. Greg was re-elected to his second term as Marion County Treasurer in 2000.

The primary responsibility of the county treasurer in Indiana is to bill and collect property taxes plus manage and invest the county's funds. During his term as treasurer, Greg has been actively involved in the daily operation of the office and in working with the Indiana County Treasurers' Association (ICTA) and the Association of Indiana Counties (AIC). He is the immediate past president of the ICTA and is on the board of directors of the AIC.

Greg has worked with the Indiana General Assembly on behalf of all Indiana county treasurers to enact laws that benefit the taxpayers of Marion County and he has also helped other elected officials. For example, Greg led an ad-hoc group from the public and private sectors that worked together to enact legislation to increase the number of investment options available to political subdivisions. Greg has been active in the Marion County Republican organization for the past 20 years.

Greg has a distinguished life of service to his community serving on numerous civic boards, charitable activities and is actively involved in his church. While serving as a member of the Masonic Lodge, he was named 1998 Outstanding Public Official by the Order of DeMolay and Indiana Public Official of the Year in 2000. As a member in such organizations as Washington Township Schools Parents Advisory Committee, Indianapolis Children's Choir, Boy Scouts of America and Indiana Opera Theatre, Greg has made a lasting difference in the community. Greg and Rosie are members of North United Methodist Church, where they both sing with the choir and Greg volunteers on several committees.

Greg was drafted by local citizens and leaders throughout the community to become the 2003 Republican nominee for Mayor of Indianapolis. Although an instant underdog against the well-financed candidate Bob Parker, Greg garnered some 52% of the votes and won the Republican nomination in February 2003. Unafraid to take on the political critics, Greg has earned a reputation as a Republican of leadership and values.
