As an attorney, Andy works as a Senior Tax Analyst for the State and Local Group in the Tax Department at Comcast Corporation. Among other responsibilities, Andy consults on local tax compliance on a nationwide basis. As a result of his background, he would bring to the Commission a thorough understanding of the business privilege tax, earned income tax and state taxation issues.
Before becoming an attorney, Andy worked as a building contractor, boat-builder and carpenter.
Political Activities:
A longtime volunteer for the Democratic Committee of Lower Merion, Andy adopted Precinct 4-3 in Ardmore for the 2004 election, watched polls and worked on campaigns, including Kerry ’04. He also volunteered his services as an attorney to the Protect the Vote effort last November.
Andy’s involvement in the debate over the earned income tax was an influential factor in the Board of Commissioners’ decision not to institute this additional tax. Andy presented verbal argument before the Board and petitioned the Democratic Commissioners with a “friend of the court” memo opposing the institution of an EIT.
Personal Background:
Andy has been a resident of Lower Merion since 1994. His daughter attended Penn Wynne Elementary School and Bala Cynwyd Middle School. She enters her senior year at Lower Merion High School this fall.
