Info | GODWIN, Hannibal Lafayette, a Representative from North Carolina; born on a farm near Dunn, Harrett County, N.C., November 3, 1873; attended the common schools and Trinity College (now Duke University), Durham, N.C.; studied law at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; was admitted to the bar in 1896 and commenced practice in Dunn, N.C.; elected mayor of Dunn in 1897; member of the State senate in 1903; member of the Democratic State executive committee 1904-1906.
