InfoDICKINSON, Clement Cabell, a Representative from Missouri; born at Prince Edward Court House, Prince Edward County, Va., December 6, 1849; tutored privately and also attended private schools; was graduated from Hampden-Sidney College, Virginia, in June 1869; taught school in Virginia and Kentucky 1869-1872; moved to Clinton, Mo., in September 1872 and continued teaching; also studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1875 and commenced practice in Clinton, Mo.; prosecuting attorney of Henry County, Mo., 1877-1882; city attorney of Clinton 1882-1884; member of the State house of representatives 1900-1902; served in the State senate 1902-1906; member of the board of regents of the State Normal School at Warrensburg, Mo., 1907-1913; elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-first Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of David A. De Armond; reelected to the Sixty-second and to the four succeeding Congresses and served from February 1, 1910, to March 3, 1921; unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1920 to the Sixty-seventh Congress; elected to the Sixty-eighth, Sixty-ninth, and Seventieth Congresses (March 4, 1923-March 3, 1929); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1928 to the Seventy-first Congress; elected to the Seventy-second and Seventy-third Congresses (March 4, 1931-January 3, 1935); unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1934; resumed the practice of law at Clinton, Mo., where he died January 14, 1938; interment in Englewood Cemetery.
