| Info | A Surrey resident for 14 years, always living near beautiful Bear Creek Park. He is a candidate in the Surrey-Newton riding.
Currently he is an advocate for local environmental, disability, and social issues. Gordon has done advocacy training with the Newton Advocacy Society, where he is currently involved in a community project to assist with housing and basic needs for the working homeless. He assisted for two years in a faith based outreach to the homeless in Whalley. He studied design arts in college, becoming a self-employed freelance photographer.
An avid cyclist, Gordon is concerned about local transportation issues in the Surrey area. He is also concerned about unbridled residential growth at the expense of sensitive ecological areas.
Cities like Surrey do not meet the needs of a community based lifestyle. People are forced to travel great distances to work and shop for the essentials. This contributes to less personal time, greater pollution, and needlessly large numbers of cars on the road. Older established neighbourhoods with smaller affordable homes are demolished to make way for newer bigger homes, making the hope of affording a reasonably priced home impossible for most low to middle income earners.
Newer is not always better and growth of itself is not progress.
