Info | Lee Cowan Sutton , 94, of Madison, formerly of Columbia, died Sunday, April 2, 2000, at Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Paris, Mo. Arrangements are under the direction of Agnew Funeral Home in Paris.
Mr. Sutton was born Dec. 2, 1905, in Sedalia to Frank Luther and Harriet Lower Sutton .
He attended Paris High School, the University of Missouri-Columbia and the University of Chattanooga in Tennessee.
He was a farmer and served in the U.S. Army with the military police from 1942-43.
He served three terms in the Missouri General Assembly as a Democratic representative from Monroe County from 1954-60.
While serving in the House of Representatives, he was chairman of the committee on child welfare and vice-chairman of the committee on stream pollution.
He was a member of the Southern Presbyterian Church, Masonic Order, Knight Templar, Mystic Shrine, Order of Eastern Star, Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Order of Rebekahs.
