InfoVal Roddick was first elected in a by-election on December 7th, 1999 for the riding of Delta South, and was re-elected in 2001.

Val has served on the Government Caucus Committee for Natural Resources and on the Select Standing Committees for Public Accounts and Health. As chair of the Select Standing Committee on Health in 2002/03, Val and her colleagues toured the province, heard and received over 1000 submissions, and produced their first report in December 2001 - Patients First - which outlines the challenges facing BC's health care system and recommendations for change. The committee re-commenced hearings in October 2002 to review progress on their first report and review developments in health care across Canada. Val has also served on the Women's Caucus Committee and on the Cabinet Committee on Core Review and Deregulation Task Force.

A resident of Westham Island in Delta since 1974, Val has a lengthy history of community service in agricultural and environmental endeavours and with various civic groups. Val's provincial involvement includes the BC Investment Agriculture Foundation and the BC Director for the Canadian Association of Agriculture Retailers.

The Roddicks founded a farm fertilizer business in 1971, which serves the local farm community. Val and her husband Noel have two grown children.
