Info | Steve Wallace has served as mayor of Quesnel for twelve years and city councillor for seven years. He served as president of North Central Municipal Association and the Union of BC Municipalities and is a life member of both organizations. He was also a vice-president of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and an executive member for three years.
Steve’s community service includes serving as a longtime member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Quesnel Shiraoi Twinning Society, a Sunrise Rotary 2000 charter member, and he holds a Knights of Columbus 4th degree.
Steve and his wife Joan own a driving school, which they began in the 1970s and which operates in Quesnel and Prince George. He is also vice-president of sales and marketing for a technology company. Previously, Steve was an elementary and high school teacher, and he ran the school district’s driver education program for eight years.
Steve has a BA in Canadian Political History and a Certificate of Education from the University of Manitoba, where he was captain of the university swim and water polo teams. He was also a medallist in four BC Winter Games, and a provincial and national masters’ swimming champion. He and Joan have lived in the Quesnel area for the past 31 years.
