Law School; was admitted to the bar in 1804 and commenced practice in Stratford; judge of the probate court of Fairfield County; member of the state house of representatives 1817-1820 and served as speaker; served in the state senate in 1821 and 1822; lieutenant governor of Connecticut 1823-1827; elected as an Adams candidate to the Twentieth Congress (March 4, 1827-March 3, 1829); did not seek renomination in 1828; resumed the practice of law; died in Stratford, Conn., October 18, 1851; interment in the Congregational Burying Ground.
