Info | David Bartlett MHA was elected in 2004 as the State Labor Member for Denison.
Having grown up in Moonah and Mt. Nelson, David was the beneficiary of a wholly public education at Taroona High School and Hobart College. David holds tertiary qualifications in Computer Science and Business from the University of Tasmania and has worked mostly in information technology, business development and finance before entering the parliament.
David worked for Telstra both in Hobart and Melbourne before returning home to Tasmania in 1995. Since then he has held various position in the Department of Health and Department of Education.
Most recently David has held the position of Senior Private Secretary to The Hon. Dr. David Crean MLC, then Treasurer of Tasmania. Prior to working with Dr. Crean David established the State Labor Government’s Innovation Centre, working with innovative, young Tasmanian companies. The Innovation Centre helped new companies to develop their ideas and create employment opportunities in Tasmania.
Through this work David was instrumental in establishing Enterprise Learning Centres at each of the state’s senior secondary colleges. The development of productive and creative talents of all Tasmanians continues to be a strong interest.
David’s community activities have included work with Adoption Jigsaw Tasmania and as a board member of The Tasmanian Enterprise Workshop. His personal interests include spending time with his young son and family, mountain biking, football, camping and bushwalking.
David is married to Larissa and they have a son Hudson (seven months).
