| Info | Paul Davis is in his first term as state representative from the 117th Assembly District. He attended New Haven public schools, graduating from Hillhouse High School in 1964. Paul went on to college at Southern Connecticut State University and was awarded a B.S. degree and state certification as a teacher of Secondary Science Education in 1968. During his college career he participated in numerous student government activities including the University’s first peer tutoring program. He was also a four year member of the varsity swim team earning All American recognition two times and serving as the team captain in his senior year.
Upon graduation he accepted a science teaching position in West Haven where he taught middle school and high school until his retirement in 2002. He has coached all levels of competitive swimming including 27 years as the varsity swim coach at Amity Regional High School. During both his teaching and coaching careers Paul served on, and chaired numerous professional committees. He received training through the Governor’s Drug Partnership and mentored more than 15 student and beginning teachers.
Currently Representative Davis is also President of the Amity Coaches Association, serves on the Executive Committee of the Connecticut High School Coaches Association, and chairs the Connecticut High School Girls Swimming Committee. In addition he has been awarded Connecticut Coach of the Year several times and was a finalist for National Coach of the Year.
In his community, he served on the Orange Conservation Commission and is a member of the Clean Energy Task Force. Representative Davis currently serves on the General Assembly’s Environment, Education, Transportation, and Regulations Review Committees.
