After completing his medical training at the Sepulveda Veterans Hospital, Sid and wife Florence chose the San Fernando Valley to raise their four children. A psychiatrist, specializing in geriatrics, Sid provides medical care on a daily basis. With his expertise in medical quality assessment, he is a consultant to the Health Care and Financial Administration and California Medical Review. Sid has protected the use of federal dollars and worked to preserve the quality of care provided to Medicare recipients. Sid's familiarity with the intricacies of our healthcare system enables him to use that knowledge to improve the affordability and accessibility of medical care for all Americans. Using his experience as a member of the Permanente Medical Group Retirement Committee, he will critically evaluate the stability of the Social Security System.
Active in medical leadership, Sid was president of the District 17 region of the Los Angeles Medical Association. An advocate with the ability to articulate and develop legislation, Sid's peers chose him to be a delegate to the California Medical Association and the American Medical Association. He has served as Secretary of the Southern California Psychiatric Society and is a Trustee with the American College of Medical Quality.
Always dedicated to quality education, he was founder of a Day School and served as president and educational vice-president. His children, Darren, Kevin, Cindy and Amy have attended Kennedy and Chatsworth High Schools. Three have graduated UC Berkeley. Other community activities include participation on both the Board of Directors and the Planning and Allocation Committee of the Valley Alliance and presenting public lectures on health related topics.
A former high school basketball player, college faculty football and local park basketball coach, he knows the importance of teamwork, playing by the rules and that leadership requires a total team involvement.
