Info | The character of Michael Garibaldi on Babylon 5 is not far removed from the real Jerry Doyle, as they have high standards, audacity, are outspoken and have a vivid past. Like the character he portrayed on the Emmy Award winning series, Jerry is not one for proceeding in life on the normal track.
At the height of a ten-year career on Wall Street, Jerry decided a new career challenge was in order. In 1991, he packed up and headed to Hollywood. With no prior acting experience, Doyle hit the streets and phones with a vengeance. Within weeks of arriving in Los Angeles, a combination of luck, timing and talent landed him his first job. He was hired as a day player on The Bold and the Beautiful, a role that lasted almost a year.
In July of 1992, Jerry shot the pilot for Babylon 5, and in 1998, completed his 110th episode of the hit series, landing him on the cover of TV Guide. He went on to star in the TNT original movies, The River of Souls, with Martin Sheen and A Call to Arms, with Bruce Boxleitner. Jerry is currently filming a feature film titled Open House and just completed an HBO original feature titled Lost Treasure. He also has three independent features, Code Hunter, Devious Beings and The Long Ride Home, soon to be released. His series work includes Martial Law, Sliders, BH 90210, Homefront and Reasonable Doubts. Jerry has done extensive voice over work on animated television series such as Duckman and Captain Simian, along with numerous national commercial voice campaigns.
Taking a hiatus from acting in 2000, Jerry pursued yet another personal goal. A long time political junkie, he ran for the U.S House of Representatives for Californias 24th District. While the March primary saw him become the Republican Congressional Nominee, the November election came up short. The title of Congressman will have to wait till another day.
Jerry grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y., the eldest son of a police officer and a stay-at-home mom. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, while also receiving his flight training. After graduation, he joined the marketing and sales division of Falcon Jet Corporation.
Active in the community, Jerry has served as Past President of the Easter Seal Society, Board of Trustees, Childrens Hospital and Board of Directors, Multiple Sclerosis. He has raised funds for many charities including Disabled American Veterans, UCLA Medical Center, Breast Cancer, Aids Walk-LA, Cystic Fibrosis and the Motion Picture and Television Fund. He has received numerous awards and accolades including Honorary F-16 Test Pilot, Honorary Naval Aviator and Distinguished Supporter of the Nations Space Program.
