Info | Calvin Millard "Cal" Dooley
Congressman Cal is a fourth-generation San Joaquin Valley farmer and partner in Dooley Farms of the Hanford-Visalia area. He serves on the House of Representatives' Committees on Agriculture and Resources, and serves as ranking minority member on the House Resources Subcommittee on Water and Power.
In addition to his committee assignments, Dooley is a founder and co-chairman of the New Democrat Coalition--a group of centrist, pro-growth Members of the U.S. House of Representatives who are working to find mainstream, bipartisan solutions to our nation's problems.
He has established a fiscally conservative, pro-growth voting record, and has been recognized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce with their "Spirit of Enterprise" award and by the Concord Coalition with their "Deficit Hawk" award.
Dooley is one of the leading House Democrats promoting an aggressive pro-trade agenda to ensure that the U.S. remains a leader in the global marketplace. Dooley has been honored by the Washington International Trade Foundation with their prestigious Distinguished Service Award for his leadership in the House on expanding U.S. access to foreign markets, including China.
In recognition of Dooley's work to foster the growth of the new economy and high technology, Business Week named him one of its "Digital Dozen" most tech-savvy legislators in Congress, and the California Healthcare Institute presented Dooley with their "Visionary Award" for being a champion in Congress for biotechnology innovation.
Dooley attended public schools in Hanford, graduating from Hanford High School in 1972. He earned a bachelor's degree in agricultural economics in 1977 from the University of California at Davis. In 1987, as a Sloan Fellow, Dooley earned a Master's in Management from Stanford University.
Dooley was born on January 11, 1954 in Visalia. He and his wife, Linda (Phillips), have two daughters, Brooke and Emily.
