Info | D. Anthony "Tony" Guglielmo
Senator Tony Guglielmo, of Stafford, was first elected to represent the 35th Senatorial District in the General Assembly in 1992. He is ranking member on the Labor and Public Employees Committee and the Public Safety Committee. He also is a member of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee and Legislative Program and Review and Investigation Committee.
Senator Guglielmo, who is president and owner of the Penny-Hanley & Howley Co., Inc. & Staffordville Insurance Agency in Stafford, is active in civic and political affairs. He was appointed by President Bush to the U.S. Small Business Administration National Advisory Council in 1989. Prior to this, Senator Guglielmo was appointed by President Reagan to the Federal Council on Aging in 1981. He served as a member of the Executive Committee to Elect George Bush President in 1987-88, and as an alternate member of the Connecticut Delegation to the 1988 Republican National Convention.
On the state level, Senator Guglielmo, a graduate of the University of Connecticut, is a member and past chairman of the UConn Parents Committee and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Association for the Prevention of Child Abuse. Locally, he served as Chairman of the Tolland Bank Board of Directors and has served as a member of the Johnson Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, and as chairman of the Johnson Memorial Hospital Development Corporation. Senator Guglielmo also serves on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Student Loan Association as well as the New Alliance Bank Foundation. He has served as a member of the Stafford Nuclear Waste Site Committee, and is currently president of the Stafford Cemetery Association.
Senator Guglielmo served in the U.S. Army and National Guard from 1963-68. He holds a B.A. in political science from the University of Connecticut and a Masters Degree in history from Trinity College. He and his wife, Doris, are the parents of three adult daughters and have six grandchildren. They live in Stafford.
